Important

Mandarin oranges have a high sugar content in general than other citrus fruits. Those with sugar related problems will want to consult a doctor, preferably a naturopathic doctor, before using. Those that cannot tolerate oranges may find they can tolerate Mandarin oranges due to the lower acidity content.

Citrus fruits, when taken in excess, are known to leech calcium from the body. All citrus fruits add citric acid to the body and so it's a good idea to get some exercise after having a citrus fruit drink.

You should always remove the rind of grapefruits, oranges and tangerines. Remove the rind, but leave the white membrane as the white membrane contains bioflavonoids. The bioflavonoids help the body absorb and use Vitamin C.

The rind of oranges, grapefruits and tangerines must be removed as the rind is difficult for the human body to digest. The rind can subsequently cause rectal problems.

General

Drink immediately after juicing to ensure you get all of the Vitamin C.

General Information:

Nothing to report.

Cautions & Suggestions:

Orange peels are traditionally dried in Chinese herbal medicine and then added to a tea. The kidney peel tea is then good for the kidneys. Only a few dried kidney peels are needed. Too many dried kidney peels are not good.

Chinese herbalist suggest that when you have a cold or a fever that you want to avoid all oranges along with seafood. The reason is that oranges and seafood enforce the body's health and while that is good, the reality is that they can also enforce the cold or fever. So when you are sick with the flu or a fever, do avoid all oranges and seafood.

Although oranges should be avoided when one has the flu, dried kidney peel tea is okay. For best results, consult a Chinese herbalist when you have a fever or the flu.
